A. Maurice Harvey - Program Manager

Maurice Harvey defines what it means to be a good community leader and has surpassed the stereotype of what it means to be a social worker. Maurice Harvey is an astute professional who obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. From there, he went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Winthrop University and currently practices clinical social work in the states of North and South Carolina.

Through the consulting arm of his private practice, Choose B.E.T.T.E.R. 4 U, PLLC, Maurice exemplifies his philosophy daily on the fact that clinical work hinges on four theoretical approaches; cognitive theory, behavioral theory, gestalt theory, and the looking glass self theory. He began his clinical work engaging in community-based micro-work meeting with families in 2006, and has recently began focusing on macro and mezzo social work including policy change and community progression. His mantra is “When you know better, you do better, only if you choose better.”

Dana Reid - Financial Secretary

Dana Reid is a graduate of High Point University with a Master’s in Public Administration and currently serves as Secretary of the board for Gracious Hands. Dana at one point in her life was a homeless/displaced woman and single mother, in which she overcame and is thankful every day that she was given another chance at life. Given her past personal history, this is what drives her and gives her the motivation to be a part of Gracious Hands; and to give back to women who were just like her. Dana provides project management direction to Gracious Hands.

In her spare time Dana has a passion for outdoor activities and is an avid reader and writer. Dana brings great energy to the organization. Ms. Reid lives by the mantra, "It only takes one person to make a difference."
