Basil Foster - President

Basil Foster Native New Yorker moved to Charlotte, NC at an early age. He was admired by his grand-mother for his success in life. He attended West Charlotte High School upon graduation in 1982 he attended DeVry Technical Institute, Woodbridge NJ. Returning to NC in 1986 he attended Hood Seminary at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. From a past marriage union he is the father of 3 and 7 grand –children.

He retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems after 20 years of service. He now is a Financial Advisor with Western & Southern Insurance Company. Currently is Pastor at Freedom Ministries of Jesus Christ International here in Charlotte. Basil worked with the following community organizations Right Moves For Youth, Young Men Arise, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Combination Community Choir, Resurrection Community Choir, Parent Advocate & Educator and very heavenly involved in Church Ministries various Community Organizations. .


A. Maurice Harvey (Maurice) - Community Partners Director

Maurice Harvey defines what it means to be a good community leader and has surpassed the stereotype of what it means to be social worker. Maurice Harvey is an astute professional who obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. From there, Maurice went on to obtain his Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Winthrop University and currently is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker approved to practice in the state of North Carolina by the North Carolina Social Work Licensing Board.

Through his consulting firm, Choose Better For You, Maurice exemplifies his philosophy daily on the fact that clinical work hinges on three theoretical approaches; behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy, and looking glass self. He began his clinical work engaging in community-based micro-work meeting families where they were in 2006 and has recently began focusing on macro and mezzo social work including policy change and community progression. His mantra is “When you know better, you do better, but only if you choose better.”


Dana Reid - Secretary

Dana Reid is a graduate of High Point University with a Master’s in Public Administration and currently serves as Secretary of the board for Gracious Hands. Dana at one point in her life was a homeless/displaced woman and single mother, in which she overcame and is thankful every day that she was given another chance at life. Given her past personal history, this is what drives her and gives her the motivation to be a part of Gracious Hands; and to give back to women who were just like her. Dana provides project management direction to Gracious Hands. 

In her spare time Dana has a passion for outdoor activities and is an avid reader and writer. Dana brings great energy to the organization. Ms. Reid lives by the mantra, "It only takes one person to make a difference."


Crystal Edwards-Singleton

Crystal is married to Charles Singleton and has two children and one grandson. She attends Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and has been there for over 40 years. Crystal is proud to be in the human resources capacity of Child Care since 1996. In addition, Crystal is a Bridal Consultant and Party Planner. She also has been a Cheer Leading Coach for over 25 years and currently coaching at Johnson & Wales University. Crystal Edwards-Singleton lives in Charlotte NC.


Lisa Armstrong

Lisa Armstrong, a native of Tennessee, is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. She has worked at various professions including Technical Member of Staff at Bellcore in Piscataway, New Jersey and GED Math Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College and Rescare in Charlotte, North Carolina. Teaching GED math is her passion. She made several lifetime friendships with her students and continues to mentor them. She is currently working at her own business, Outsider Creations, in Matthews, North Carolina.
